Angkor Wat  Siem Reap

Within the walls of the ancient Khmer capital city, Angkor, lies the biggest religious structure in the world. Angkor Wat means City of Temples in Khmer and it spreads out over 1.6 sq.km or 162.6 hectares.

Originally built in AD 1150 as a Hindu temple, it eventually transformed into a Buddhist temple. As a Hindu-Buddhist complex, temples were constructed according to the faith of each king. Angkor Wat is an awe-inspiring example of Khmer architecture. It is featured on the flag of Cambodia and attracts more than 2.5 million tourists each year.
